Hello my darlings,

Have you ever had a spa facial? If you haven’t, you are truly missing out on an incredible part of life. Facials don’t just feel wonderful, they have so many health benefits for your skin and for your body! Let me explain the benefits of just one spa facial, then I’ll tell you how to reap the benefits of regular spa facials …

What Is A Spa Facial?

A spa facial is performed by a skincare specialist, typically an esthetician or sometimes even by a cosmetologist or a dermatologist. These are the only people legally allowed to perform this service, so always be sure to check with your provider. Facials are unique to the provider, there are different techniques in massage, different products, and relaxation elements depending on where you go, but all are designed to #1. Improve the health of your skin and #2. To be a luxurious and relaxing experience. Again, depending on where you go, #1 may take more precedent over #2. Facials should not just include the face, most will incorporate at least the decollete (chest & shoulders) as well as the scalp, hands, arms, and possibly the feet.

What Is In A Spa Facial At Bewitched Esthetics

Let me get a little more detailed in my explanation of a general spa facial by giving you all the details in how I formulate mine. Most common of my services is my standard 60 minute customized facial: The Avra Kehdabra Facial.

Avra Kehdabra means “I create what I speak”. At the beginning of a facial at Bewitched Esthetics, I will ask you, “What three things would you change or correct about your skin?” Depending on what three things you tell me, I will make that the theme of my facial and for the next 60 minutes I get to target those issues.

Healing Frequencies in Spa Facials

Healing starts the moment you walk into Bewitched Esthetics. As I leave my client to climb into the spa bed, the lights are dimmed and my personal spa playlist hums serenely in the background. I curate a custom list of songs with healing frequencies, which are a type of sound wave therapy. At Bewitched Esthetics I play 432hz frequencies, to reduce anxiety, lower your blood pressure and heart rate as well as increase mental clarity, heighten perception and intuition.

Clean & Clear the Skin

I always start with a double cleanse, triple cleanse if you are wearing makeup. This process may sound basic but cleansing your skin is very important and oftentimes at home, we don’t take the time to really clean our skin, balance the pH levels and clear out the pores.

Skin Cell Turnover

Then I will exfoliate your skin, removing dead skin cells, dirt and debris. This is important to reduce acne or other issues caused by clogged and dirty pores. It is also important for Cell Turnover. Essentially, this process is how we get rid of the old to make way for the new. It is crucial for the anti aging as the lightening & brightening results we’ll see in the end.

Stimulate Blood Flow

At this step, I will typically apply a stimulating masque to get the blood flow moving. Our body will send blood to any part that requires healing. Stimulating masques send out a false “healing required” signal, encouraging blood flow to the face. This stimulation will boost collagen and elastin production, tightening the face and minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as healing blemishes and with certain masques we can even prevent acne if that is one of target focuses.

Relaxing, Luxury Spa Facial Stuff

Now it’s time for steam towels, some aromatherapy, and a scalp massage. Steamed towels will help your products infuse as well as feeling INCREDIBLE. Just like tea infuses into hot water, steamed towels will assist the skincare products in penetrating deeper into the skin.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is very relaxing, yes, however it is also therapeutic (as the name would suggest). I use organic essential oils as well as Revive brand essential oils to enhance the atmosphere of calm or peace, joy & serenity. Speaking holistically, calming your mind and body is just as crucial to healthy skin as healing the skin itself.

Scalp Massage

A scalp massage again, goes beyond just being relaxing. If done properly, a scalp massage can stimulate hair growth especially when used with the right oils! These oils can also balance oil production on the scalp and reduce/remove flaking skin. *Pro tips: Come for your spa facial with dirty hair so you won’t feel bad about getting oils massaged into your scalp.

Massage, Lymphatic Drainage & Facial Sculpting

The best part of a spa facial is the massage! Both in the feel-goodness of a massage and the benefits you receive. You see, yet again I must repeat, this is a step that doesn’t just feel good, it is so important in the health and vitality of your skin. The massage increases the penetration of the products by pressing them into the skin (let me reiterate the importance of getting a facial with quality skincare).

The massage techniques are also important as they improve and facilitate lymphatic drainage in your face and decollete, which will remove stagnant toxins and reduce puffiness.

Massage movements are designed to give your facial muscles a workout! Believe it or not, you can tighten and tone your face by properly manipulating the muscles of your face. Estheticians are trained in school and hopefully pursue continued education in this element.

Eminence Organic Skincare trains their authorized retailers extensively not just in product knowledge but in massage techniques. In the six years I’ve been working with this brand, I have attended many hands-on training seminars learning the latest and greatest massage techniques from top practitioners in the industry.

After more steamed towels and a hand + arm massage, I will then layer on a mixology of masques to work on our target issues. If it is hydration you seek, I might use the Strawberry Rhubarb Masque to take advantage of botanical hyaluronic acid, designed to repair your moisture barrier. Or I might use the Snow Mushroom & Reishi Masque, which contains ultra-hydrating antioxidant properties which will incidentally also enhance the skin’s elasticity and reduce puffiness.

Then I’ll add another set of steamed towels, get deeper into the scalp massage including the shoulders this time and maybe some more aromatherapy.

Add Ons

AND THIS IS JUST A BASIC FACIAL OUTLINE. Depending on the client, depending on the needs of each individual, I will include different add ons: there’s dermaplaning, high frequency treatments, the Arctic Berry Illuminating Peel or other peels, gua sha sculpting, Reiki, Crystal Therapy, Hydrojelly masks and so much more! Not to mention that I have a plethora of skincare products so each spa facial is as unique as a snowflake.

Benefit of Regular Spa Facials

So now that I’ve given you a list of the benefits of just ONE spa facial, let’s talk about why it’s beneficial to get regular spa facials.

The most basic reason is self care. Do you know how often clients tell me this is the one thing they do for themselves? I offer a 10% discount for rebooking your next spa facial because often, clients will forget in their busy lives to take care of themselves. There is nothing more delightful than seeing a luxurious spa facial pop up on your schedule that your past self so thoughtfully set up for you.

Massage, Lymphatic Drainage & Facial Sculpting

The more complex reason is cell turnover. You can and SHOULD use all your skincare every day at home, you can even use your gua sha or jade roller or ice roller…etc. However none of this compares to coming in for a luxury spa facial. I spend so much more time caring and healing your skin than you can possibly do at home.

The most important reason is human touch. Research has shown that being touched enhances your mental and physical wellness. Touch can lower your heart rate as well as your blood pressure. It can relieve depression and anxiety levels, boost your immune system AND it can even relieve pain. I work with clients who have migraines and TMJ, in these facials I will individually structure the focus on relieving that pain. Touch is the one thing you cannot replace at home, unless your scheduling regular facials with your significant other or roommate.

Learn from the Spa Facial Expert

Regular spa facials also provide the perfect time to pick an expert’s brain. I love spending time going over my client’s skincare routine if they need my help. Or working with my clients to determine the cause of a repeating issue or frustration. One of the most frequent issues I resolve is milia. Clients have no idea what they are and usually express concern. I love giving them an easy resolution as milia are basically impactions in super small pores, impossible to extract on your own and require a special treatment plan.

If You Still Aren’t Convinced

If these beneficial reasons to get a spa facial as well as relaxation reasons aren’t enough to convince you to come in, I want to invite you to get 15% off your first spa facial with me at Bewitched Esthetics. Just use code MYFIRST when booking. If you don’t live in Boise, please feel free to take advantage of a free phone consultation where I can answer any of your questions from afar.

Wishing you a life full of beauty and blessings!
