Hello my darlings,

Baths are the best. One of my favorite self care things to do. There are so many health benefits to taking a bath! Let’s talk about the little things you can easily add to your bath to enhance the glow of your skin.

#1. Enhance Your Bath with Herbs

When you brew a cup of tea what do you add? Hot water and an herbal tea bag right? Well the concept applies to a bath! Herbs are not just beneficial for our insides, they are topically beneficial as well. Chamomile tea can be added to a bath to soothe inflammation like psoriasis or eczema, as well as reduce redness. Green tea has wonderful stimulating benefits! The natural caffeine works wonders to energize the skin, especially for dark circles under the eyes. I guarantee you can pull out any organic tea you have in your cupboard and find benefits to putting it in your bath. (Ginger Turmeric Tea from Trader Joe’s is one of my favorites!)

#2. Use Citrus to Power Up Your Bath

Packed with Vitamin C and citric acid, this is a fun way to spice up the bath water AND make use of the peels of your fruits. Typically I will add the fruit to mine too. I will completely drain the juices from my orange, lemon, or grapefruit to enhance my bath. The citric acid will completely  soften your skin by removing old, dry & dead skin cells. The vitamin C will brighten up your skin, so I always recommend this bath before you go in for a fake tan or apply self-tanner!

#3. Bath Oils

Nothing says luxury like a delicious bath oil. These products will add a nice gloss to your bath, softening your skin as you soak. I really REALLY love to add either the Goddess Beauty Oil or the Apricot Body Oil to my bath. They both smell so wonderful and when I step out of my bath, I truly feel like a goddess. Plus you can reap all the benefits of the ingredients these products are made of like the 24K gold in the Goddess Beauty Oil for anti-aging or the jojoba oil & seabuckthorn extract in the Apricot Body Oil to soften and hydrate the skin. These are not a good choice if you plan to get a fake tan afterwards, just an FYI.

#4. Bath Bombs

Bath bombs are just so darn fun to have in a bath. I can’t be the only one who likes to hold my bath bomb to feel it fizz away under the water. My favorite bath bombs are ones I get from Thrive Market with CBD. Nothing enhances the relaxation of bath time like CBD to loosen the muscles. Bath bombs contain other ingredients like baking soda which softens the skin due to its alkaline structure and citric acid, which as I mentioned above, helps to exfoliate and soften the skin. Not to mention additional ingredients that function to customize the product like oats, lavender, and other herbs.

#5. Essential Oils to Enhance Your Bath

To give your bath a natural fragrance which will also enhance the glow of your skin I recommend using essential oils. There are many different benefits to using essential oils in skincare like rose and frankincense. However you must be careful not to use too much in your bath to avoid irritation. Essential oils are concentrated amounts of plant constituents so know that a little goes a long way.

#6. Bath Salts & Minerals

Bath salts are another great ingredient in a recipe for the perfect bath. Especially epsom salts with magnesium, baking soda or sea salts. These will assist the body in the detoxification process which we all know is one of the first steps in enhancing your skin and ensuring a healthy glow is the end result. Baking soda will soften the skin because of its alkaline pH. Be aware of how you are using citrus and baking soda in your bath, depending on the desired pH of your bath.

#7. Crystal Infusions

Infuse your bath with the healing energies of crystals! They also make for a beautiful aesthetic. You must be careful to choose the right crystals however. Not all crystals are meant to go into the water according to the Mohs scale. If you need a little help deciding which crystals can go in the water and also enhance your skin’s glow, please read this article.

Tub Tea

There are these things called ‘Tub Teas’ that are an excellent way to infuse your bath. They can include flower petals, herbs, bath salts, essential oils and more! So easy to use because they are all swaddled up in mesh bags so you can just drop it into the hot water to infuse, then remove in one easy move without fear of clogging the drain. Just an FYI, the Bewitched Beauty Box includes a tub tea, one that changes every month!

Cleansing Tip

Things people don’t usually think to do: make sure you have a water filter for your bath, not just your shower. The water here in Boise is very hard, it has lots of minerals that can leave your skin feeling dryer than when you got in the water. Also…there are chemicals and toxins in tap water. And coming in contact with your skin isn’t actually the worst of it. When you breathe in the steam, you might possibly also be inhaling vaporized chemicals/toxins. So. Get a water filter.

Also, make sure you rinse after taking a bath. Unlike a shower that rinses away all the dirt and debris that comes off in the water, baths do not. Which means you should always take a swift shower after taking a bath. Especially if you plan to get a fake tan after. As a bonus, it is an excellent way to mentally cleanse. Use the shower as a symbolic feature in your cleanse. The bath is where you infuse in your energies of love, beauty, and abundance, then cleanse away negative energies with a brief shower rinse.

Did I Miss Anything?

Let me know, what are your favorite things to infuse your ritual bath with? There are so many beautiful ways to elevate your bath, to boost the radiance of your skin and I hope I didn’t forget to share any of them! You can use all, you can use one – it is a mixology game depending on what results you want to see. Wishing you a life full of beauty and blessings!
